Go From Conflicted To Centered

Professional moms everywhere describe their experience with one word: conflicted. If they’re great at work, they’re not the mom they want to be. If they’re focused on their kids, their work begins to suffer. And somewhere in all of this, they’re supposed to carve out quality time for their partners, their friends, their relatives, and themselves—not to mention passion projects and other responsibilities. It’s a situation that leaves them feeling at odds with themselves...and drained.

There’s a better way.

She knows, because she's been there too. But true change is possible when you build a life that’s CENTERED.  Dr. Whitney is sharing her intentional motherhood approach with others so they can go from surviving to THRIVING as a modern mom.

Dr. Whitney Casares, a mama-mindset thought leader, pediatrician, and the author moves working moms from conflicted and guilty to centered and grounded in their motherhood experience.

Mindset: Creating a centered vision for your life matters—and now more than ever. A mama with a healthy mindset can weather any storm and ride any wave that comes her way.

Self-Attunement: You’re already fierce as a modern mama. Knowing and attuning to yourself sets you up to be strong and grounded, not just moment to moment, but for your whole life. When you take care of you, you can take better care of everyone and everything in your life.

Prioritization: A mom’s time is precious and limited. Using it efficiently and productively allows you to focus and spend more of your time on what you care about most.

Consistency: You want to be strong and steady long-term. Sustainable change takes mindfulness and expert guidance.

Capturing the Modern Motherhood Dream: Empowering Successful Women to Win at Parenting Without Losing Themselves

Modern women face full-time pressures in the workplace, at home, and in their social circles as they start out on their motherhood journeys, often within organizational and societal constructs that don’t fully support or understand their needs.

Tempted to do and be it all, the vast majority of new mothers struggle to reach their work-life balance and self-care goals, often facing disappointment and guilt once they enter motherhood.

Career-minded women need a new paradigm for motherhood success — one that acknowledges that winning at work matters, but that working moms want to win at parenting, too (without losing themselves).

They want an approach that recognizes their commitment to finding balance and, above all, their desire to promote the social-emotional health of their kids and themselves.

→ Unrealistic expectations and significant pressures as they transition to motherhood.

→ Lack of credible resources and knowledgeable support in relatable and accessible formats

→ Postpartum depression and anxiety

→ Breastfeeding failures, sleep deprivation, and social pressures

The Future of Healthcare is Now: Harnessing the Power of the Internet to Reach Tech-Savvy New Mothers and Their Infants

Healthcare providers must understand the unique needs and fears of pregnant and new mothers in order to successfully help moms-to-be make postpartum self-care plans and help new moms thrive.

Especially in the peripartum period, healthcare providers and healthcare organizations must use the social-media and blogging platforms of this parenting generation to reach mothers right where they are: on their smartphones and computers. Beyond the constructs of planned social-media posts and controlled web content, patients need direct lines of communication with vetted professionals so they can cut through the noise of social-media crowdsourcing and the false advice that bombards them as they search the web.

This speech will inspire those who have been hesitant to take on the vast opportunities that await them in this arena and will encourage experienced organizations with established informatics strategies to think bigger and broader about the ever-growing reach of provider-patient technologies.

This keynote empowers women to:

✓ Develop a plan for reaching patient audiences using cutting edge technology

✓ Broaden their exposure to moms and their babies in new ways

✓ Expand and diversify their outreach and support opportunities.

This keynote empowers women to:

✓ Identify the unique challenges new mothers face in the United States.

✓ Establish a structure for promoting mother-baby dyad success within community and hospital-based medical systems.

✓ Identify actionable steps toward policy and system change in the U.S.

Lost in the Shuffle: How the U.S. Healthcare System is Failing Modern Mother-Baby Dyads and the Pathway Toward Re-Prioritizing Their Success

Modern parenthood in the U.S. is increasingly difficult, especially for new moms. Despite the modernization of the baby-gear industry, and despite our expectations that families fold new babies seamlessly into their pre-existing lives, infants’ needs are still primal, addressed best by parents who have the perspective and support they need to cope with the unpredictable struggles of this fragile moment in both an infant's and a woman’s life.

In our current paradigm, expectant mothers face unrealistic expectations and significant pressures as they transition to motherhood, yet lack quality, credible resources and knowledgeable support in relatable and accessible formats. Breastfeeding failures, sleep deprivation, and social pressures often quickly contribute to a sinking feeling for fledgling mothers that they’re “lesser than” other first-time parent peers and often set the stage for postpartum depression and anxiety.

This speech exposes the organizational and healthcare-policy contributors to struggles in the peripartum period and shares a vision toward advocating for and achieving improved mental and physical health outcomes for mothers and babies alike. It challenges our current postpartum paradigms — both economic and structural — and paves a pathway toward reduced healthcare costs, improved quality metrics, and healthier families.
